The 24-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the head just before 3am in Toowoomba on March 15.

He was in the driver’s seat of a Mitsubishi sedan when a number of shots were fired from a Ford Ranger ute.

The man was transferred to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he died on Monday.

Police have launched a homicide investigation and believe the victim and the people in the ute were known to each other.

A burnt-out vehicle matching the description of the ute was later found about half an hour away.

Police say the Ford Ranger may have been parked in Coonan Street before the shooting and continue to appeal for information.
