Global energy giant Shell has slashed the value of its assets and pointed at its Queensland coal seam gas business as a contributor to a $US9 billion ($A13 billion) impairment on its integrated gas unit.
Queensland’s gas industry will be controlled by a new royalty regime that will use a “super profits tax” that is more likely to hit LNG producers.
Shell will make a decision on whether it will sell off its $US2.5 billion ($A3.7 billion) of infrastructure assets on Curtis Island later this year.
