More than $3 billion was stolen from Australians last year in scams and one expert believes that is only the start of the story.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrency scams were now costing investors about $70 million a year, as the consumer watchdog reported a huge spike in ripoffs.

Australians have lost $139 million to scammers in the first half of 2021, according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
