Police allege the 30-year-old fired shots at a house on Fitzgerald St in Gracemere just after midnight on Monday.

Witnesses described the getaway car to officers and the call went out to patrol cars in Rockhampton.

When the same car passed police on Old Gracemere Road, officers turned on their sirens and began a pursuit.

The car sped up but police used road spikes to stop it on Gladstone Road, Yeppen, about 10km away.

The man was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and dangerous conduct with a weapon.

He was also charged with evading police, dangerous operation of a vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, drink driving, carrying dangerous goods in a vehicle, and obstructing police.

The man is expected to appear at the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday.
