In 2021 Opera Queensland is partnering with the Brisbane Music Festival and Brisbane Festival to present the series.

The series explores a wide range of repertoire including contemporary composers, lesser-known works from well-known artists, and three of the most renowned song cycles of western music, Schubert’s Winterreise, Mahler’s Rückert Lieder and Schumann’s Dichterliebe.

In a coup for the company, soprano, composer and artistic director Deborah Cheetham AO makes her Opera Queensland debut with her Studio Series recital, Songs My Mother Sang to Me from 19 and 20 March 2021.

Acclaimed Chinese-Australia tenor Kang Wang also makes his Opera Queensland recital debut with John Woods in Secret –  A Love That Never Was, 26 and 27 February 2021.

The recitals are a rare opportunity to experience some of Australia’s leading operatic stars up close and personal.

Subscriptions to Opera Queensland’s Season including The Studio Series are on sale now.
