It comes as tertiary institutions experience strong demand for domestic places, in large part due to economic conditions resulting from the pandemic.

“Griffith saw a significant increase in demand for study in Trimester 2 this year and anticipates there will continue to be more interest in university study in 2021,” Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Debra Henly said.

The Good Universities Guide 2021 has ranked Griffith 10th in the country for teaching quality, a jump of 9 places.

The University also improved 5 places to 11th for learning resources and remains 7th in the country for staff qualifications, the guide recognising the high proportion of academic staff with a doctoral qualification.

The guide ranked Griffith in 5th position nationally for engaged learners and 12th for skills development for the second year in a row.

Professor Henly said Griffith also scored highly in the proportion of domestic students undertaking a bachelor degree who were the first in a generation (44%) to attend university, ranked 10th in the country.

“Griffith is incredibly proud of the number of students who are the first in a generation to study at a tertiary level,” Professor Henly said.

“I’m pleased we have retained our Good Universities Guide 5-star ranking in this regard as the University takes pride in welcoming students from all walks of life.

“The University will continue to encourage and welcome students to study in areas of their passion.
