Laura Gerber has been elected in the seat of Currumbin, holding it for the Liberal National Party in a tight race against Labor’s Kaylee Campradt, ABC chief election analyst Antony Green says.

“The LNP are more than 500 votes ahead with not enough outstanding votes to overturn the lead,” Mr Green tweeted on Tuesday.

“There was a two per cent swing against the LNP, not great in a seat you hold but there were local circumstances.”

Currumbin was left vacant by Jann Stuckey, who triggered the by-election when she retired this year after 16 years in office.

Mental health issues and bullying within the party were her reasons for quitting politics.

When polls closed on Saturday, LNP leader Deb Frecklington said Ms Stuckey had launched unprovoked attacks against Ms Gerber.

Meanwhile, Labor has held the Ipswich seat of Bundamba with candidate Lance McCallum.

Vote counting for local government elections across the state continues.
