Wildlife officers captured two crocodiles in the Kennedy River at Lakefield National Park in the State’s far north on Monday suspecting the animals were involved in the 65 year old’s disappearance.

Those suspicions were confirmed over night after human remains were found in one of the euthanised reptiles, measuring 4.1 metres and 2.8 metres.

While the remains are still the subject of a formal identification process, the find has caused the search for the missing man from Laura in the State’s far north to be suspended.

The man’s disappearance triggered an intense search across the area from 3.30pm on Saturday , which resulted in the capture of the two crocodiles upstream from where the man was last seen fishing.

Queensland Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
