The 41-year-old Sydney man allegedly used a fake name to check in to a flight from Brisbane to Sydney on April 19 before security detected the stash of weapons, cash and five grams of methamphetamine.

When officers attempted to question the man, he fled on foot.

The Australian Federal Police launched an investigation to identify the man, and working with their state counterparts, tracked him to a unit complex in the Sydney suburb of Dolls Point.

It’s alleged he is a patched member of the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang.

He was arrested at the complex on Wednesday before appearing in the Sutherland Local Court charged with nine offences including cross border firearm trafficking and drug possession.

AFP Detective Superintendent Adrian Telfer said organised criminal networks put the entire community at risk of street violence through their trafficking and misuse of firearms.

The man was remanded in custody and is next due to appear in court on June 20.

An application to extradite the man to Queensland to face further charges is expected to be made by the AFP.
