Two teens in custody after Logan knife robbery ends with high-speed chase

A 43-year-old man is in hospital with knife wounds after a botched armed robbery and a highway pursuit to seize the offenders ended a night of criminal mayhem in Logan.

It was the second near-fatal stabbing following an earlier incident in the inner-city suburb of Grange left a man in critical condition.

Two teenagers are in custody after a brazen overnight attack that has seen a man stabbed in central Logan and police engaged in a highway pursuit of an allegedly stolen car that ended on the Pacific Motorway.

Police allege the man sustained his wounds shortly before 1am after he was approached by a 16-year-old Logan Central boy who produced a knife and demanded the victim’s  car keys, wallet and watch while he was parked outside a business on Wembley Rd.

The boy allegedly stabbed the man causing non-life threatening injuries to his abdomen and elbow before fleeing in a car.

Police located the allegedly stolen vehicle travelling south on the Pacific Motorway before intercepting and  arresting the driver, a 16-year-old Logan Central boy, and a 15-year-old Edens Landing Boy. A knife was also and seized in the arrest.

The injured man is currently receiving treatment in hospital for injuries described as “non life threatening”.

The 16-year-old Logan Central boy was charged with one count armed robbery, wounding and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and the 15-year-old Edens Landing Boy was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

In an unrelated event, emergency crews were called to a home in Grange just before 5.30am on Thursday and found a small fire and the injured man, who had sustained serious knife wounds to his chest.

He has been taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical but stable condition, Queensland Ambulance said on Thursday.

The fire was extinguished a short time later.

A woman and two children were assessed by paramedics at the scene.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham is expected to provide further details later on Thursday.

Both were denied bail and will be due to appear in the Beenleigh Children’s Court later this month.
