A man has been taken into custody after a truck rammed two police vehicles, leaving four police injured.

Police arrested the man around 8:25am Wednesday after declaring an emergency around the Labrador housing complex just before 7:30pm Tuesday.

Police spent hours negotiating with the man, who was unarmed and alone in the unit, and the siege ended peacefully.

Officers were called to a housing complex on Brown Street in Labrador at 4:30pm on Tuesday, after reports of a domestic incident.

When the man threatened to ignite a gas bottle, an emergency declaration was declared under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA).

All residents at the unit complex were evacuated from the building overnight.

Motorists were also advised to stay away from the exclusion zone and avoid the area.
Residents had been allowed to return home and traffic flow restored around 9:30am.
