Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced the details of lives lost in Parliament on Wednesday.

In reporting the 37 new deaths, she said 29 of them had been notified to Births, Deaths and Marriages whilst the other eight were in the past 24 hours.

Of the total figure, 22 were in residential aged care.

“Can I express my condolences to all the people, to the families who have lost loved ones during this Omicron wave. There are many people out there who no longer have their loved ones with them,” the Premier told Parliament.

Authorities have already explained the lag time in reporting of deaths to Births, Deaths and Marriages.

The State has also recorded 6300 new cases of Covid-19.

Palaszczuk said there were 379 people in hospital with Covid-19, 35 of them in intensive care. This is almost identical to the figures from Tuesday.

And she urged parents of school aged children to get their children vaccinated. Rates of vaccinated school aged children continue to sit at just 42.2 per cent.

It comes as the State prepares to ditch many of the Covid-19 restrictions, including mask wearing, on March 4.

The booster rate for the State’s eligible population now sits at 63 per cent, whilst 90.66 per cent of the population has now had two doses of the vaccine.
