Police say the 29-year-old suffered slash marks to the face, neck, side of the body and a stab wound to the buttocks area.

They also allege the victim and offenders were known to each other and the incident was not a random attack.

“We believe that the victim and the premises were targeted for certain reasons, and we’re still making our investigations to establish exactly why that has occurred,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Eaton said.

Police say they are exploring if the incident is related to drugs.

Four men went into the 29-year-old’s home in Buderim, about 6.20pm on Thursday.

Detectives say he was held down while the men struck him in the face, chest and lower back with a “large bladed weapon.”

The group then ran away, leaving the resident with deep cuts all over his body.

“The consequences of these things can be fatal,” Eaton said.

“Happily, that is not the case in this situation but that said, that’s probably more good luck than good management.”

Two other people were present in the home, a 27-year old male, who police say was grabbed by the offenders and pinned to the couch.

Another woman who was upstairs, was unharmed during the incident.

Police say the offenders wore hoodies during the home invasion and left by foot, while investigations continue as to whether they then got in a vehicle.

The victim was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital where he is in a serious, but stable condition.
