John Leonard Webster is facing a raft of fraud charges, while his wife Suzette Maree Webster, a teacher, is also charged.

The couple appeared separately in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.

John Webster was first charged in September by the state’s corruption watchdog with 34 counts of fraud and one of misconduct in relation to public office.

A further 14 fraud charges were later brought against both the principal and his wife.

John Webster allegedly misused his Education Department-issued credit card and dishonestly obtained money relating to school activities, the Crime and Corruption Commission said earlier in a statement when he was charged.

With regard to the 14 fraud charges, the CCC said it would be alleged they “fraudulently accessed leave entitlements”.

John Webster’s matter was adjourned for mention in Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 27.

Suzette Webster is set to have her matter mentioned in the same court on February 24.

They are both on bail on their own undertaking.
