Motorway drama: Armed man dies after being shot ‘multiple times’ by police

Police were allegedly threatened with a knife before the shooting death of a 22-year-old man on a motorway south of Brisbane.

Officers responded to reports of a man walking alongside the Logan Motorway and creating a hazard to drivers at about 6am on Thursday.

They were immediately confronted by the man who allegedly threatened them before he was shot.

They said he threatened officers with a “bladed weapon”.

Shortly after, officers shot the man and he died at the scene. it is understood multiple shots were fired.

Police administered first aid but he died a short time later.

The Logan Motorway has been closed eastbound and significant delays are expected for most of the day.

The Ethical Standards Command is investigating with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
