The 27-year-old in handed himself over to officers in Cleveland on Thursday night after the woman was shot earlier in the day, sparking a police hunt.

The man has been charged with grievous bodily harm, dangerous conduct with a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He’s due to appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court on Friday.

Police found a second 27-year-old man, who was also allegedly involved in the shooting, hiding in a set of units near Sylvan Beach Esplanade on Bribie Island at 3.45pm on Thursday.

He was charged with burglary, enter dwelling with intent, receiving tainted property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of a weapon.

The man is due to appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Friday.

The woman, 27, remains at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition following surgery.

Officers were called to a Rothwell home about 8am where they found the wounded woman.

A car and gun linked to the incident were later discovered in a residential area on Bribie Island, about a 40km drive away.

Officers locked down four residential blocks there and a second illegal gun unrelated to the shooting was also found in the car.

Detective Inspector Robert Hytch said the shooting didn’t happen at the Rothwell home where the woman was found.

“The victim was delivered there to other family members so they could call an ambulance,” he said.

“There may have been a heated argument between the two other male occupants of the vehicle.”
