Ryan James Ironmonger, 20, and Bobby John Condie, 31, pleaded guilty to extortion in the Brisbane District Court on Friday.

Ironmonger sold amphetamines to Corey Proctor, 25, who was unable to pay the $300 he owed.

Proctor was lured to a home in Strathpine, north of Brisbane, in September 2019 with the promise of more drugs only be confronted with a chair in an empty garage lined with plastic on the floor.

When he refused to sit, Condie grabbed him by the neck and said: “You thought you could get away with ripping people off did ya?”

The victim was repeatedly threatened over the several hours he was held, with Condie at one stage lunging at Proctor with a blowtorch before Ironmonger stopped the attack.

Condie then pushed Proctor’s head back and forced pliers into his mouth saying: “One of my five favourite things to do is remove teeth and fingernails”.

Proctor was ordered to call his family to pay the outstanding debt and arranged to meet in a car park to withdraw money from an ATM.

Condie and Ironside tried to increase the debt, and demanded the family pay $1500 or they would kill Proctor as a knife was “dragged” across his hand.

Instead, Proctor’s sister called police who were waiting when the kidnappers arrived at the ATM meeting point.

Judge Jeffrey Clarke said it would have been a terrifying experience for Proctor and his family.

“It was egregious behaviour – you acted like thugs,” Judge Clarke said.

“Mr Proctor and his family would have been petrified that serious harm would come to him and for what? A $300 worth of speed?

“It is simply outrageous behaviour.”

Ironmonger was sentenced to four years’ jail to be immediately suspended to the 71 days time served.

Condie was sentenced to five years’ jail, to be eligible for parole in March 2021.

A third man Kyle Jordan Ellis, 23, has already been sentenced to three years’ jail and given immediate parole.
