Emergency services responded to Jubilee Esplanade at 7:15am after surfers managed to pull the person to shore.

Walkers reported seeing paramedics performing CPR on the woman, believed to be in her 30s. It is understood she was swimming with a child when she got into difficulties.

The Courier-Mail reported that the woman was from Toowoomba and was holidaying with family on the Sunshine Coast.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

More to come.
