The white Toyota Hilux was reported as having been stolen from a Queensland address on Sunday and it crossed the SA border yesterday afternoon, evading police at the checkpoint.

Police patrols are currently searching for Alex Blake and a woman he was travelling with in the Mid North after they were spotted in Port Augusta this afternoon.

Blake is described as Caucasian and aged in his early 30s.

He was wearing an orange and blue high-vis long-sleeved top, long dark blue pants and a baseball cap.

The woman is described as having dark, shoulder-length hair.

She was wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt.

Police believe the pair have a firearm.

The ute has a large black toolbox in the rear tray and now has the numberplate S632BHY, which police say has not been assigned to a vehicle.

Police say the vehicle was involved in a petrol drive-off at Innamincka about 3:15pm on Monday and also allegedly driven at speed towards a man in the outback township.

The pair also allegedly stole fuel at Hawker, in the Flinders Ranges.

Queenslanders can enter South Australia without restrictions, apart from having to notify authorities three days ahead.
