On Saturday night in the Concert Hall QPAC, audience members were treated to a glimmer of magic when Queensland Symphony Orchestra presented its latest Maestro Concert, Musical Sorcery.

Conducted by Benjamin Northey and featuring  soloists Stefan Dohr on French horn and Andrej Kouznetsov on the famous Concert Hall organ, the program featured Richard Strauss’s joyous Concerto No.1 in E flat for Horn and Orchestra, Saint-Saëns’s mighty Symphony No.3 (Organ Symphony) and Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Dohr demonstrated why he is known as ‘the king of his instrument’ when he performed Olivier Messiaen’s solo horn piece Appel Interstellaire [Interstellar Call] for the encore. Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s next concert is The Ballet Beautiful on Sunday March 15 at 11am.
