Dec 23, 2020, updated Dec 24, 2020

1. Did anything good come out of 2020?

A refocus on the important people in your business and more importantly in your life! Don’t sweat the small stuff.

2. What’s your favourite Christmas memory?

Waking up in Mackay on Christmas day as a boy and a great breakfast with Santa’s toys with loads of family love. What is more we just seemed to make an impromptu decision to go to the harbour for a barbecue. Pack up my paraplegic Grandmother, load an Esky and all 20 of us would head there where we played games until dark. Great times. Nothing was too much effort.

3. Are you a summer or a winter person?

I love the cold, and swim most days through winter. I do love the beach in Summer, but give me a ski holiday and I will be pretty happy! Judging from the current COVIDclimate, it’s best I stick to the beach in the short term!

4. How do you stay resilient during periods of change, like the year just gone?

Just have to keep reminding ourselves of the important things in life … health, family, coffee (probably in that order but don’t ask me first thing in the morning!)

5. Who were your heroes of 2020?

All the front-line health workers around the world. Just so impressive all of those stories of endless days and hours in the field on the very dangerous front line.

6. Your secret ambition?

To lower my golf handicap to single figure.

7. Favourite end-of-year holiday spot?

We have a farm in sunny Boonah. This is heaven to us. Motorbikes, ATV, horses, pool all with a magic view. The scenic rim is awesome.

8. What are you hoping for next year?

Continued good health for all of us. An end in sight to the Covid nightmare worldwide and looking forward to charting the success of the vaccine as it starts to gain hold in the countries who are suffering the most like Italy and the UK.

9. Hot Christmas dinner, or cold?

Both! Cold seafood and meats for us at Lunch. Barbecue dinner and probably not a huge gap in between!

10. People/businesses to watch in 2021?

Tech giants, some Global funds and Australian resources are where my investment monies will go. I still like the retail sector but it has to have a good online platform and be selling a good authentic experience
