The annual extravaganza of all-things Greek will take over Musgrave Park on the weekend of May 20–21 for two jam-packed days of mouth-watering feasts, live music, plate smashing, Zorba dancing, wine tasting and so much more.

Since 1975, the beloved Paniyiri – one of the longest running cultural festivals in Queensland – has passionately showcased decades of Greek culture, traditions and heritage to thousands upon thousands of visitors. For its 47th year, the vibrant weekend-long festival will again transport attendees to Greece through a host of cultural performances, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, traditional Hellenic dancing, market stalls and, of course, mountains of glorious Greek food.

Follow your nose through the festival’s market-style food stalls and salivate as you watch succulent souvla being barbecued slowly over coal, sip on Greek wine, eye off slabs of sweet baklava and work out how many towering plates of golden fluffy honey puffs (loukoumades) you can devour.

This year’s theme is ‘Picnic at Paniyiri’, with attendees invited to BYO picnic rug or purchase a limited-edition Paniyiri picnic blanket as a keepsake, and pick a spot on the grass as a base for the fun-filled day of deliciousness. The festival’s 2023 entertainment program takes cultural influence from three Greek women in the arts – Maria Callas, Melina Mercuri and Irene Papas – who will also be featured at a pop-up historical display at the festival.

Paniyiri takes place on Saturday May 20 and Sunday May 21, 2023, at Musgrave Park in South Brisbane. Tickets are available now! Head to the festival website to purchase.
