Appointments: Leader found for CS Energy

CS Energy gets a new leader as Health goes back to the future and Collins Foods appoints a CFO and more in this week’s executive and board appointments.

CS Energy’s new boss

The Government owned generator company CS Energy has appointed Darren Busine as chief executive officer.

He was most recently the company’s executive general manager of energy markets, technology and commercial.

He had also worked at Energex and Ergon.

Walsh slots in at Health

The State Government has appointed Michael Walsh as acting Director General of Health following the sudden departure of Shaun Drummond.

Walsh previously headed Health between 2015 and 2019 and he will hold the position while a search is done for a permanent replacement.

Mental Health Commissioner re-appointed

The Minister for Health Shannon Fentiman has re-appointed Ivan Frkovic as Queensland Mental Health Commissioner for another three years, extending his time in the role to nine years.

“I would like to congratulate Ivan on his re-appointment as Commissioner and thank him for the tireless work he’s already undertaken over the past six years,” the Minister said.

“With the growing need for mental health support in this state, the importance of the Queensland Mental Health Commission will only increase, and I know Ivan will do an exemplary job in driving reform.”

Alvia gets first CEO

Family office investment manager Alvia Asset Partners has appointed Nathan Robertson as its first chief executive.

He has experience in the financial sector including at UBA, Colonial First State and the CBA.

Robertson will lead distribution efforts across the business.

Conry joins Bowen

Bowen Coking Coal has appointed David Conry as a director.

Conry recently retired from his role at Australian Pacific Coal where he was chief executive and chair.

Conry will join the board’s audit and risk management and nomination and remuneration committees.

CKF picks up Leyden

Collins Foods Group has appointed Andrew Leyden as its chief financial officer.

He will start in October.

Most recently Leyden was CFI at Asaleo Care and before that the Vita Group. He has also worked for Essity, Foster’s group and Reckitt.

Glycomics director to step down

Griffith University’s Institute of Glycomics Professor Mark von Itzein has announced he will step down from the role at the end of the year.

He was the founding director of the institute in 2000.

Griffith said he had also pioneered the development of antiviral and antibacterial drugs, revolutionising the treatment of influenza. He and his team were responsible for the design, synthesis and biological evaluation of Relenza, which is used in the treatment of influenza.

Anteotech loses Parker

Anteotech has revealed that Christopher Parker had retired from the board.

Parker was previously a chief executive of the company and had served on the board since 2019.

Impedimed adds to board

Impedimed has added Michael Seiden and Daniel Sharp to its board.

Seiden is an oncologist who brings a background of leadership in the cancer care sector. he was president of the US Oncology Network and chief executive and president of Fox Chase Cancer Centre.

Sharp comes from the capital markets field and was with Canaccord Genuity Australia before his retirement. He is also a director at Alcidion and Botanix.

Nolan picked up by Feds

Former State Government Minister Rachel Nolan has been appointed to National Rail Innovation Council.

Nolan, who is a special adviser to Deloitte Access Economics and was previously head of the McKell Institute, said there was exciting and important work ahead in the area.

Tymlez continues to change

Carbon reporting company Tymlez has continued its raft of management changes with the appointment of Freddy El Turk as chief executive.

It follows the resignation from the board of  Rhys Evans who was replaced by Darren Scott, who had an executive career with Cisco and Adobe.

In late May, Daniel O’Halloran resigned from the board and had been replaced by Raffaele Marcellino.
