The decision would add about 90,000 inbound seats a year, according to the Brisbane Airport.

The return of the airline following Covid was helped by the $200 million fund set up by the state’s international airports and the State Government.

The first flight from Seoul would land in Brisbane today.

The airport’s chief executive Gert-Jan de Graaf said the return of the flights “turned the tap back on” for large scale South Korean tourism to Queensland and made it easier for students to study here and for their families to visit.

Flight Centre subsidiary Corporate Traveller also revealed today that flight bookings between Australia and Tokyo had surged since borders had re-opened.
