The capital investment was non-expansionary but it has the unanimous approval of the users.

Both projects are expected to start this year and take up to four years to complete. They would be funded through a combination of existing debt and internal funds from operations.

Managing director Anthony Timbrell said that to ensure that the terminal continued to accommodate metallurgical coal exports DBI would focus on its investment in the pipeline of non expansionary projects.

He said this meant the terminal capacity remained available to meet the needs of customers.
