BDO signs up Dighton

BDO said it had welcomed its newest project and infrastructure advisory partner, Tim Dighton, who joins its Brisbane team.
BDO said Dighton had a deep understanding of the regulatory requirements associated with highly complex and demanding mega infrastructure, transport, and transformation projects. 
He was previously the general manager of rolling stock and signalling with the Department Transport and Main Roads.

Penberthy quits City Winery

Adam Penberthy has finished with City Winery in the Valley and is heading to Ballendean to start his own vineyard.

He said he could not be prouder of what was achieved at City Winery, which he founded in 2018.

Penberthy intends to set up a cellar door, accommodation and a tourism offering at the St Jude’s Vineyard.

He was previously managing director of Fresh Advertising.

Pyne opens in Brisbane

Lobbyists and advisers Pyne and Partners, headed by former Defence Minister Christopher Pyne, has relocated senior associate Will Redmond to Brisbane to open an office.

Redmond is a Brisbane local who has been working in Canberra for the past decade.

Megaport loses company secretary

Megaport said its company secretary Emily McCaffery had resigned, effective today.

In her place Celia Pheasant has been appointed to the role. She previously served in the job between 2014 and September last year.

Revium kicks off Brisbane office

Revium has announced the opening of a Brisbane office and the appointment of its Queensland agency director Rebecca White.

The company said White’s experience spanned the management of national and international digital transformation projects and delivering high-growth strategies to hundreds of businesses.

White joins Revium from advisory and accounting firm BDO, where she was director of financial education and business growth division.

Bowen opts for Ruston

Bowen Coking Coal has appointed Mark Ruston as chief executive following a decision by founder and current CEO Gerhard Redelinghuys to shift into a role as executive director.

Ruston has 30 years of experience in the industry and has worked for Thiess, Golding, Baralaba and McMahon and was an alternate director on the Queensland Resources Council board.

Chair Nick Jorss paid tribute to Redelinghuys’ service to the company.

Banking exec joins Auswide board

Auswide Bank has appointed Lyn McGrath to its board as an independent director.

She is also on the board of Credit Corp and Challenger Bank and chair of togetherAI.

McGrath was also previously a senior executive at BoQ and CBA.

Glencore welcomes new zinc boss

Glencore said Sam Strohmayr had started as the new chief operating officer of Glencore’s zinc assets in Australia, which includes its Queensland Metals assets in Mount Isa and Townsville, and the McArthur River Mine in the Northern Territory.

He started his career as a graduate metallurgist at our McArthur River Mine and has most recently been leading Glencore’s South American Zinc Assets.

He’s worked across several zinc and copper operations in Australia, Portugal and Argentina, including Queensland Metals and as General Manager of McArthur River Mine.

Brookfield takes up Dalrymple opening

Dalrymple Bay Infrastructure has appointed Ray Neil as director following the resignation of Bahir Manios.

Neil was nominated by shareholder Brookfield Infrastructure and is the company’s managing director.

Anglo loses Somlyay

Anglo American has lost its head of corporate relations and sustainable impact Victoria Somlyay.

She announced her resignation from the company after five years earlier this week and will take a break with her family.

Tyson elected to US academy

QUT professor Gene Tyson has been elected to the American Academy of Microbiology, which recognises excellence, originality, service and leadership.

QUT said Tyson’s work had played an important role in changing the understanding of environmental and clinical microbial communities.
