The Brisbane-based superannuation fund, which is Australia’s second biggest, has appointed former Reserve Bank deputy governor Guy Debelle as an external adviser to its investment committee.

It also appointed the former UK agent-general for Linda Apelt and former Future Fund managing director Mark Burgess to its board.

Apelt is a former director general of the departments of Housing and Community Services and served on the Qsuper board of trustees between 2001 and 2005.

Burgess currently sits on the board of competing super fund Hesta. His appointment would begin at the end of his term at Hesta in mid-2023.

Burgess would also serve as a member of the investment committee.

ART chair and former Queensland Treasurer Andrew Fraser said all three were exceptional leaders and would bring a wealth of experience to the fund.

“The collective national and international experience and insight of our appointees will benefit the fund as we seen returns in Australia and abroad,” Fraser said.

Debelle shocked the financial community when he left the RBA to work for Andrew “Twiggy” Forest’s Fortescue Future Industries. Late last year he stood down from the job after a serious bike accident.
