The project would be capable of producing 365 megawatt hours, or enough energy for 60,000 homes.

Vena has already started construction of the project and expects a full workforce of about 350 people.

In August, Vena confirmed that its 100 megawatt/150MWh battery at Wandoan had started commercial operations after 18 months of testing. AGL had bought the long-term power purchasing agreement from the battery.

The company has previously disclosed plans for up to 650 MW of solar and up to 450MW of storage.

Vena’s Owen Sela said financial close on the solar project was a sigificant milestone for the company.

“Even accounting for recent inflation trends, solar PV is still one of the most cost competitive sources of energy in Australia today,” Sela said.

Vena has been provided debt funding for the project through its banking partners.
