AACo has appointed Dave Harris as MD

It follows the sudden departure of Hugh Killen in June which, at the time, was justified as decision made by Killen as part of a leadership transition.

It comes as billionaires tussle for dominance on the shareholder register at AACo.

British billionaire Joe Lewis recently lifted his stake in the company to 51 per cent as speculation grew that Andrew Forrest, who holds 17 per cent, was about to launch a takeover for the company, a move that never eventuated.

Harris has been acting as chief executive since the departure of Killen and chair Donald McGauchie said the board had been impressed by his work.

Harris said he was honoured to take on the role in the company that controls 1 per cent of Australia’s land mass.
