AcuraBio, formerly known as Luina Bio, provides recombinant proteins and vaccines, and complex live biotherapeutic products to customers developing emerging therapeutics.

The company said it was entering a new growth phase.

“As part of the transaction, DerHaifer and Ampersand are bringing significant investment to the company with a focus on expanding the organisation to better serve customers,” the company said.

“AcuraBio is planning to increase production facility capacity and is actively evaluating expansion into new service offerings and technological capacities.”

Haifer said that he and Ampersand were reinventing a company that already had deep scientific experience.

He said AcuraBio would be a leader in the APAC region for biopharma clients attracted by its technology, scientific excellence and innovation.

Haifer is well known in the Australian sector. He previously was chairman Agilex Biolabs and Advance Clinical.

He was also bought a house in Darling Harbour, Sydney, earlier this year for $60 million.
