ROCKHAMPTON GALLERY TURNED INSIDE OUT

As Rockhampton Art Gallery prepares for its $31.5 million relocation and redevelopment along Quay St, the gallery is opening its doors to visitors and flipping its collection “inside out”. Until March 16 visitors can experience the behind the scenes action of collection management.  With dimmer lighting, more workbenches and artworks hung on racks rather than walls, the gallery aims to make its transition to the New Rockhampton Art Gallery as seamless and transparent as possible. Be sure to check into the exhibition space regularly, as the collection artworks on display are changing frequently.

MAKE IT OUT TO JEREMY NEALE

To celebrate the release of his new album We Were Trying to Make it Out, Brisbane singer-songwriter Jeremy Neale will be performing a free instore at Jet Black Cat Music at West End. Neale spent three months at a songwriting masterclass at New York University after winning the Grant McLennan Fellowship in 2018 and the geographical separation from his hometown enabled Neale to approach the writing process for We Were Trying to Make it Out, which is released today, without encumberment.  To hear the results, head along to Jet Back Cat Music, at 72A Vulture St, West End, at 6.30pm.

AN HORSE AT THE ZOO

Former Brisbane-based duo An Horse – Kate Cooper and Damon Cox – are playing their first show in their old hometown since 2015 at The Zoo in Brisbane tonight. An Horse released Modern Air, their first album since 2011’s Walls, last year, and have performed on The Late Show With David Letterman and toured extensively with the likes of Tegan and Sara, Death Cab for Cutie, Silversun Pickups, Nada Surf, Cage the Elephant, and Brand New.  Renowned for their energetic live performances, this is a show not to be missed, and there are still limited tickets remaining.
