From September 1–24, Salamander will transform a Northshore warehouse into a dream-like labyrinth, inhabited by desperate characters trying to make their way through the shifting, flooded and futuristic landscape. The experience is brought to life by artistic visionaries Maxine Doyle and Es Devlin, alongside composer and sound designer Rachael Dease and Queensland-based artistic company Australasian Dance Collective. These creative minds bring haunting melodies and visceral dance together to help transport you to a climate-fiction, sculpture-filled world of light, sound, design and movement.

Famed director and choreographer Maxine Doyle has co-directed a myriad of award-winning productions, which have travelled the world, such as Sleep No More, The Drowned Man and The House Where Winter Lives. Es Devlin, who is known for her large-scale art works and stage sculptures that combine light, music and language, has had her line-up of profound works displayed in Trafalgar Square, The Louvre, The Serpentine Gallery and The Met Museum. In 2022, the two established creatives collaborated for the first time on the hugely successful stage installation work, Here Not There. Now, Brisbane locals will have the opportunity to witness the continuation of this awe-inspiring collaboration in the flesh for the world premiere of Brisbane Festival’s Salamander.
